PTK Mission

phi theta kappa's mission is two-fold

  1. Recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and
  2. Provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

BETA NU OMICRON MISSION STATEMENT

"The purpose of Beta Nu Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Anoka Technical College shall be the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students of the college."

Meetings

Honors in Action meeting: Monday, July 21 at 1:30 p.m.

  • We will be meeting at Teri Vinje's home - please do not show up any earlier than that (email me if you plan to go and need directions)
  • We will be viewing an episode of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey entitled "A World Set Free"
  • Bring a snack to share 
Bring any research information that you have done this week that corresponds with the above question

Here is the question: 

How is the current rate of energy consumption detrimental to future populations?

Our three main areas of focus are going to be:

  • Electricity
  • Heat
  • Vehicle fuel

What problems do each of these areas cause in:

  • Environment
  • Humans
  • Future of the Earth

Can then show what impact the average user can make by implementing changes in their lives.

 Anoka County Fair  July 22 through July 27  10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • We are looking for students to sit at our PTK table from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for Orientation on July 23 and 24(Email Jackie at jkeocher1@my.anokatech.edu if interested)
  • Melissa McCarty is looking for student volunteers to represent Anoka Technical College at the Anoka County Fair. The fair is being held from Tuesday, July 22nd through Sunday, July 27th. There are three 4 hour shifts from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m per day and volunteers are provided with an entry ticket to the fair. Adam is planning on being there Tuesday night for the 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. shift.  We are looking for two representatives per shift.
