Medical Assistant Showcase April 5

Anoka Technical College will host their first Medical Assistant Showcase, Wednesday, April 5, 4 to 7 pm in Auditorium A and B. Prospective students are encouraged to attend this free event to learn more about the Medical Assistant program. Food and beverages will be served and door prizes will be awarded.

Industry leaders will be in attendance to answer questions, provide resources and present information. This includes certified medical assistants (CMA) from Anoka Technical College, human resources from medical corporations, medical assistant job recruiters and clinic supervisors.

“Medical assistants are in unbelievably high demand, and industry leaders want Anoka Tech graduates,” said Anoka Tech Medical Assistant Program Director, Lisa Sailor. “This event will show prospective students what our Medical Assistant program entails, as well as explain what a daily life in a clinic is like for a medical assistant. Both Anoka Tech and our industry partners are extremely excited to showcase this fun and rewarding program and career!”

Medical assistants are in high demand, which allows for great job security. Job growth is projected at 23 percent through 2024, which is much higher than the average. Medical assistants are also able to secure a set schedule position, such as Monday through Friday during typical daytime hours.

An Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Assistant at Anoka degree can be completed in two years or less. Students receive real hands-on training in clinical, laboratory and administrative skills. Graduates are prepared to perform direct patient care and make a difference in the lives of patients.
