College offers Architectural and Construction Estimating night courses

In response to the upswing in construction and the demand for qualified employees, Anoka Technical College will begin offering its Architectural Technology degree program and the Construction Estimating certificate program through night courses in fall 2015.

Courses will be offered Monday – Thursday, 4 to 9:30 p.m., and students will have access to download free educational versions of CAD design software to complete their projects outside of classroom hours.

“For those already in the construction industry, this is a great way to advance your knowledge and earning potential,” said lead Architectural Technology instructor Jay Boyle, a registered architect who has taught at Anoka Tech for 24 years.

“The Architectural Technology program has a strong 90% placement rate for related employment,” Boyle continued. “The construction economy has made a strong rebound from the recession so this is again a great career choice for graduating high school seniors.”

For students seeking a four-year degree, the Architectural Technology program has  articulation agreements including a bachelor of science degree in Construction Management through Moorhead State University, with courses held at North Hennepin Community College, and a bachelor of Architecture degree through Dunwoody College of Technology in downtown Minneapolis.

Fall registration is underway, so students can apply at any time.
