This course is designed to provide the student with instruction and practice in phlebotomy techniques so that the student can successfully perform them upon course completion. Topics covered include blood collection by venipuncture, by capillary punctures and the necessary equipment for each procedure. Students will learn basic anatomy as it relates to blood collection, blood composition, clinical relevance or laboratory tests, safety, and professional ethics and liability.
