Award Letter
Step 3: Award Letter

Your award letter lists the amount of grants, loans, and work-study for which you qualify.

The grants apply to your account automatically based on the number of credits for which you are registered and attending.

If you have been awarded work study and would like a job on campus, please visit our Work Study Job Board. Apply directly with the supervisor for the position you are interested. You will also need to complete a Student Worker Information Packet (available at the Financial Aid Office).

Your financial aid award letter also indicates your eligibility for federal student loans. Loans are not automatic. If you wish to borrow the loans, or a portion of the loans, you must apply for your loans. Below are the steps for applying for your federal student loan.

Applying for your federal student loan
1.  If you have not previously borrowed a federal student loan, you are required to complete loan entrance counseling. Go to www.studentloans.gov. Sign in using your federal PIN (the same one you used for your FAFSA) and click on Entrance Counseling. This process will take approximately 25 minutes to complete. Loan requests will not be processed until Entrance Counseling has been completed.

2.  If you have not completed a Federal Direct Loan MPN (Master Promissory Note), go to www.studentloans.gov. Sign in using your federal PIN (the same one you used for your FAFSA) and click on Sign Master Promissory Note. You will only need to do this one time; your MPN is good for 10 years.

3.  Request your Loan amount by logging into your Anoka Tech e-services using your student ID and password.  Click "loans" on the left side of the screen, then click on the "Loan Application" tab and indicate the amount of subsidized/unsubsidized Direct Loan that you are requesting.  Then click the "Submission Tab", read the information, click "check this box to indicate you have read and understand the above", then click "Submit Loan Request".  You may review the progress of your loan on the "Loan Status" tab.

Child Care Expenses

If you will have child care expenses as a result of going to school, you may be eligible for post-secondary child care assistance. This grant requires you and your child care provider to complete an additional application. More information is available in the Financial Aid Office and on this Web site.

If your family income changes significantly after you have filed your previous year's taxes, you may want to request that your financial aid be reviewed. The Special Circumstances request form is available on our forms page or in the Financial Aid Office.
