Counseling Services

Counseling services provide students with support in defining and achieving their academic, career, and personal goals.  Students are encouraged to meet with the Counselor to discuss and develop an individualized plan to promote personal and academic success.

Services are available to help students in the following areas:

Personal Counseling

Counseling services are available to provide students with short-term support for a variety of concerns. Such concerns may include, but are not limited to abuse, anxiety, chemical abuse, depression, eating disorders, financial pressures, grief, relationship issues, self-esteem, stress management and life transitions.

In addition, referrals to professional agencies and resources to services in the community are provided when necessary.

Academic Counseling

Academic counseling offers students the opportunity to explore strengths and weaknesses associated with academic achievement. Students can meet with the Counselor to discuss and receive feedback related to issues that may impact academic achievement. These issues may include, but are not limited to, test anxiety, communication, time-management, study skills, and note-taking skills.

If you are experiencing academic difficulty it may be possible to resolve the issue by discussing it with your course instructor. Click here for tips on talking with your instructor PDF.

Career Counseling

Choosing a proper program of study is crucial for success in college.  Students are guided through the process of developing career goals by exploring personal skills, interests, personality traits, and values. Career counseling can help a student to match these characteristics with occupational and educational opportunities.
