Advanced Manufacturing & Biomedical Technology Summer Camps

Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs:
Camp "I am the FUTURE"

Advanced Manufacturing Camp

Monday, June 23, 2014 - Thursday, June 26, 2014

8:30 AM to 2:30 PM

The Advanced Manufacturing Camp will introduce students, ages 13-15, to the manufacturing industry with real hands-on experience and industry tours.  Interested in being a Design Engineer, Machinist or Welder?  During Camp, a student will utilize the same equipment the professionals use to create and manufacturer their own designs.  On industry tours, students will witness, and take part in, the design and production of an actual product. This is a great introduction to manufacturing and the many highly skilled careers in this industry.  But, the best part of Camp is...it's tons of FUN!  Watch the video to see some of the camp highlights from last year.

Biomedical Technology Camp - NEW

Wednesday, July 9, 2014 - Friday, July 11, 2014

8:30 AM to 2:30 PM

This is a brand new camp for 2014.  Biomedical Technology touches lives each day from a simple bandage to a high tech pacemaker.   Minnesota is home to over 400 FDA regulated medical device companies and the corporate headquarters of both Medtronic and St. Jude Medical.  Learn how devices are used to treat and diagnose medical conditions. Tour local medical device manufacturers and see the advanced manufacturing that goes into making a medical device.  Discover the history of the medical device industry in Minnesota and how it all started by a man named Earl Bakken (a visit to the Bakken Museum). Students will build their own heart-rate monitor (they can bring home) and also conduct a heart dissection.  This is a "hands-on" camp that will introduce you to STEM careers that are changing lives!

Cost for Camp:

$50 (*scholarships are available for all students)
*All students are eligible to receive a camp scholarship.  The student will be given the name of a local manufacturer to request a scholarship.  Just simply contact the manufacturer and camp is FREE.

Camp Location:

Anoka Technical College
1355 West Highway 10
Anoka, MN  55303

Registration:

Two spots open for Advanced Manufacturing and one spot open for the Biomedical Technology Camp.
Registration is open as long as the form is still available.  Students will need to complete two short essays as part of the registration process.  The essays will be reviewed by the camp staff and used as a method for camper selection.
