In recognition of the National Court Reporting and Captioning Week, and to let people know about the growing number of employment opportunities the profession offers, Anoka Technical College is hosting:
Court Reporting and Captioning Exhibition
Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017
5 to 7 pm
Anoka Technical College
The public is encouraged to attend for a few minutes or the entire evening. Friends and family interested in a lucrative, high-demand career are also welcome.
Attendees can meet local, highly successful court reporting and captioning professionals, as well as:
learn how to train to be a court reporter or captioner
tour a broadcast captioning station (see how captions appear on TV)
see realtime demonstrations as used in court or depositions
see realtime demonstrations as used as an ADA accommodation (for example, how someone who loses their hearing can fully participate in a college course or religious service by using CART captioning)
There will also be food, raffle prizes and a Veterans history project on display.
“Court reporters and captioners are vital contributors to our legal system and to ADA services,” said Jennifer Sati, Anoka Technical College Judicial Reporting program instructor and event organizer. “There is an increasing demand for qualified people in the field. I hope many people will join us to learn more about the great careers available in this field.”
