Learn about court reporting and captioning at Anoka Technical College Feb. 16
In recognition of the National Court Reporting and
Captioning Week, and to let people know about the growing number of employment
opportunities the profession offers, Anoka Technical College is hosting:
Court Reporting and
Captioning Spring Fling
Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016
4:30 to 6:30 pm
Anoka Tech Auditorium B
The public is encouraged to attend for a few minutes or the entire
evening and bring along friends or family who are looking for a lucrative,
high-demand career.
Attendees will meet local court reporting and captioning stars
and have the opportunity to:

learn how to train to be a court reporter or captioner
- tour a broadcast
captioning station (learn how captions appear on TVs!)
- see realtime
demonstrations as used in court or depositions
- see realtime
demonstrations as used as an ADA accommodation (for example, how someone who
loses their hearing can fully participate in a college course or religious service
by using CART captioning)
- enjoy food
- try for raffle prizes
- view a Veterans history project
Court reporters and captioners are vital contributors to our legal
system and to ADA services, and there is an increasing demand for qualified
people in the field.

The National Court Reporters
Association (NCRA), the country’s leading organization representing
stenographic court reporters, broadcast and CART captioners, and legal
videographers, has designated Feb. 14 - 20 as the 2016 National Court Reporting
and Captioning Week. The week-long event is designed to celebrate the court
reporting and captioning professions and to help raise public awareness about
the growing number of employment opportunities the career offers.
