College introduces Green Dot violence prevention program
Anoka Technical College introduces Green Dot, a violence prevention program. Green Dot is a violence prevention program that is powered by each one of us and a simple shared vision to make our campus safer.
The focus of Green Dot is power-based personal violence. This includes partner violence, sexual violence, bullying, harassment, stalking or abuse as well as many other forms of violence.
This program is based on the idea of spreading “green dots” or any behavior or choice that promotes safety and makes violence intolerable. It can be proactive, such as posting a message about violence prevention on Facebook or hanging a green dot poster in your office. Or it could be reactive, such as calling campus security when you see a high risk situation or checking in a friend who may be experiencing violence at home.
Green Dot is about changing the culture of our community, and it depends on each of us doing something every day to promote a violence-free campus.
To learn more about Green Dot and upcoming Green Dot events and trainings, please visit the Student Success Center (Ste 190).
An Anoka Technical College counselor is available to provide support and information regarding resources in the community for those who have been impacted by violence. The counselor may be able to see you on a walk-in basis in the Student Success Center (Suite 190). To set up an appointment with the counselor, please call 763-576-4830 or stop by the Student Success Center Information Desk.
