Learn about court reporting and captioning at Anoka Technical College Feb. 11 during National Court Reporting and Captioning Week

In recognition of the National Court Reporting and Captioning Week, Feb. 8 - 15, and to let people know about the growing number of employment opportunities the profession offers, Anoka Technical College is hosting:

Court Reporting and Captioning Exhibition
Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020
4:30 to 6:30 pm
Anoka Technical College, Auditorium B

The public is encouraged to attend for a few minutes or the entire evening to learn more about how to become a court reporter, CART provider or broadcast captioner. Friends and family interested in a lucrative, high-demand career are also welcome.

Attendees can meet local court reporting and captioning professionals and graduates, as well as attend demonstrations of leading technology used in courtrooms or ADA accommodation through realtime demonstrations. Attendees will also have an opportunity to tour a broadcast captioning station. There will be refreshments and pizza at the exhibition.

“Court reporters and captioners are vital contributors to our legal system and to ADA services,” said Jennifer Sati, Anoka Technical College Judicial Reporting program instructor and event organizer. “There is an increasing demand for qualified people in the field. I hope many people will join us to learn more about the great careers available in this field.”

The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners and legal videographers, has designated Feb. 8-15 as the 2020 National Court Reporting & Captioning Week. The week-long event will highlight the many aspects of court reporting and captioning that make it a viable profession, including good salaries, flexibility, interesting venues, and the increasing demand for more reporters and captioners to meet the growing number of employment opportunities available in the field.
