First Responder Initial - ONLINE
The course uses a combination of at home e-Learning modules and in class skill sessions. The course is 60% e-Learning, rich in multimedia material, using a variety of presentation methods to increase content retention and efficient use of student time. The other 40% of the course is classroom, hands-on, skill sessions known as blended-learning. The course is designed to provide First Responders with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage patient care at the scene of a trauma or medical emergency until ambulance personnel arrive. This First Responder-Initial course uses the guidelines established by the US DOT and meets and exceeds the requirements established by the Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board (MN EMSRB). This course satisfies 50% of the new EMT-B "bridge track", allowing students the option to bridge to full EMT-B certification at a future date. This First Responder e-Learning course is intended for Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Ambulance and Rescue Personnel, Ski Patrol, Athletic Coaches, School Nurses, Camp Counselors, Industrial Emergency Response Teams, and other individuals charged with "first response" duties. Students train from home or work on any computer minimizing student travel while maximizing training schedule flexibility. Computer Requirements: Any Internet connection, Windows 98 SE, NT 4.0+, ME, 2000, XP, CPU Speed: P II, 350 MHz, Hard Drive Space: 125 MB Memory: 32 MB, Graphics: 800x600x64k, Video Memory: 4MB, CD-ROM Speed: 12x or higher, Audio: 16 bit & speakers. First Responder Refresher - ONLINE
This course requires one orientation and online registration session the beginning of class and uses a combination of e-Learning modules and one skills/lecture/final session to complete the state Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board (EMSRB) certification process. Students may train from home or work, minimizing student travel while maximizing training schedule flexibility. The course is designed to provide First Responders with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage patient care at the scene of a trauma or medical emergency until ambulance personnel arrive. (Prerequisite: Must have a current state EMSRB certification & CPR card for the Healthcare Provider)
