Phlebotomy
This course provides students with 40 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of clinical practice in phlebotomy techniques. Topics include equipment and procedures for blood collection by venipuncture and capillary punctures. Students will learn basic anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, specimen handling, clinical relevance of laboratory tests, safety, liability and professional ethics.

Mandatory clinical rotations are during day hours, with standing for 8 hours at a time

Course Acceptance
A Phlebotomy Pretest is necessary for registration.* Complete the one-hour test Mondays at 1 or 2 p.m. or Wednesdays at 9 or 10 a.m. in the Academic Resource Center, Room 185.
*You are exempt from this testing if you have a college GPA above 2.0.
