National Registry of EMT Examinations
MN EMSRB Skill Exam
Candidates must have successfully completed the EMT Basic course to be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) practical skill examination.
EMT Basic Skill Examination Retest
This examination is for students who need to retest one or more of the NREMT/EMSRB EMT Basic practical skill stations. Documentation of skills to be retested must be presented at time of retest. The practical skills examination will be conducted by a representative of the NREMT/EMSRB state examiners.
EMT Intermediate Skill Examination
This four-hour examination is for students successfully completing the EMT Intermediate/85 curriculum outlined by the National Registry of EMT (NREMT) registration requirements. The practical skills examination will be conducted by a representative of the NREMT.
Prerequisites: Current EMT Basic Certificate and CPR card for the Healthcare Provider/Healthcare Professional.

EMT Basic Refresher
This course meets or exceeds the EMT Basic renewal guidelines of the National Registry of EMT's, the State of Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board, and the D.O.T. Course costs do not include those of the State Skills Examination.
Prerequisites: Current EMT Basic certification and be within one year of expiration. Must have a current CPR card for the Healthcare Provider.
EMT Intermediate Refresher
This four-hour course offers 36 hours of education adhering to the content of the EMT Intermediate/85 curriculum outlined by the National Registry of EMT's (NREMT) re-registration requirements. An additional 36 hours of continuing education as outlined within the EMT I/85 re-registration brochure will be accepted by the NREMT to meet the total required 72 hours. Verification of skill maintenance by Physician Director or EMT Intermediate training/operations is also required for re-registration with the NREMT.
Prerequisites: Current EMT Intermediate Certificate and current CPR card for the Healthcare Provider/Healthcare Professional.

National Incident Management System (NIMS) - IC 700
On February 28, 2003, President Bush issued Homeland Security Presidential Directive-5. HSPD-5 directed the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop and administered a National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents. This course introduces NIMS; it explains the purpose, principles, key components and benefits of NIMS. The course also contains “Planning Activities” giving you an opportunity to complete planning task and table top exercises. This course meets or exceeds the mandated requirement for compliance of the NIMS - IC 700 course.

Sports Medicine Safety Training
Sports Safety Training
Provides individuals with the basic first aid skills and knowledge needed to care for athletic injuries. Recognition of specific injuries will also include demonstrations of various taping/wrapping techniques, used to prevent injury and provide support for a variety of injuries common in sports. Taping skills will be practiced by participants. Materials are included.
Emergency Sports First Aid
The Sport Emergency First Aid provides individuals with the basic first aid skills and knowledge needed to care for athletic injuries. Course will cover common injuries sustained in the athletic arena. Discussions covering mechanisms of injury and recognition of specific injuries will also be included. Demonstrations of various taping/wrapping techniques, used to prevent and provide support for a variety of injuries common in athletics. Taping skills will be practiced by participants. Materials and supplies are included in course fee.
Prerequisites: Must have a current CPR card for the Healthcare Provider/Healthcare Professional.
Sports Medicine Taping Techniques
This eight-hour course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of taping and wrapping techniques, used to prevent and provide support for a variety of sports related injuries. Lab time will allow students a chance to practice a variety of taping skills. Student trainers, coaches, parents of athletes, First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians with sport coverage responsibilities will benefit from this comprehensive course. Techniques covered include, but are not limited to, basic ankle, arch, thumb, elbow, and achilles tendon procedures. Upon successful completion participant will receive eight (8) contact hours. Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens
Federal OSHA standard 1910.1030 covers occupational exposure to bloodborne/airborne pathogens. The intent of this standard is to reduce and prevent transmission of bloodborne/airborne pathogens. This course provides a basic overview on bloodborne and airborne diseases, how they can be transmitted, an exposure control plan, cleanup and decontamination procedures and exposure prevention techniques for first aid personnel.

Right to Know
This course satisfies the annual refresher training requirement for Right-To-Know, in accordance with Minnesota Rules Chapter 5206. This course will cover employee’s rights and responsibilities and how to read Material safety Data Sheets for all chemicals they may come in contact with. Hearing protection, eye protections, walking and working surfaces, steps and ladders, heat stress and personal protective equipment can also be covered based on your organizations needs.

Defensive Driving
This six-hour two part course includes classroom and behind-the-wheel training. The course is designed to train the participant in emergency vehicle driving, which includes backing, braking, cornering, vehicle load awareness, parking, the use of emergency lights and sirens, and the laws governing emergency vehicles.

Motorcycle Safety
Basic Rider Course (BRC)
Designed with the beginner in mind, but is a challenge even to experienced riders. Our curriculum and materials are supplied by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and our instructors are MSF-certified. The course includes both classroom and on-cycle instruction, with high-quality, personalized coaching and several hours of practice riding. Training motorcycles are provided free of charge. Riders 18 and older can earn their motorcycle license by successfully completing the course.
Advanced Motorcycle Training (ERC)
If you are comfortable on your own motorcycle and ready to try something new, this five-hour ERC Skills Plus will build upon your existing skills and knowledge. Relatively new motorcyclists, returning riders, and experienced motorcyclists can all benefit from this course.
Moped Course
This four-hour classroom-only moped course is a great introduction to riding. The course is required for those who do not have a driver's license, are at least 15 years of age, and wish to ride a moped on the street. For those who do have a driver’s license may legally ride a moped on the street. See legal information at www.motorcyclesafety.state.mn.us
STREET SMARTS
The Street Smarts Riding Workshop is a two-hour, interactive seminar for riders of all ability. The workshop helps riders evaluate their own skill level and outlines the critical knowledge and skills needed to survive on the street. Topics include attitude, hazard awareness, riding strategy, riding skills and protective gear.
Street Smarts Plus BRC
This is the Street Smarts Riding Workshop combined with a four-hour "refresher" course of selected riding exercises from the BRC. Training motorcycles are provided. This course is ideal for endorsed riders who want to take a course, but are not yet ready for the ERC Skills Plus, returning riders, and newer riders who have completed the BRC and want additional coaching and practice time. Participants must have a motorcycle endorsement and previously completed the BRC.
Street Smarts Plus ERC
This is the Street Smarts Riding Workshop combined with the five-hour Advanced Motorcycle Training course (ERC Skills Plus). This course is ideal for active, endorsed riders who have never had training, as well as experienced riders who wish to hone their knowledge and skills. Participants provide their own motorcycle, motorcycle license, and provide proof of insurance.
Note: Street Smarts courses do not meet state licensing requirements for the skill test waiver or participants under 18 years of age.
Basic Motorcycle Maintenance
This hands-on course is designed for new riders or people who want to know basic motorcycle maintenance. Learn techniques from a pre-ride inspection, on the road to winterizing your motorcycle. Some of the topics covered include, basic adjustments, changing oil, clutch adjustment, belt/chain adjustment, brake inspection and adjustment, and general bike problem solving.
The Anoka Technical College policy does not permit instructors to adjust or repair student’s bikes. Please bring your bike manual and any tools supplied with your bike.
