Description: This course explores the use of a medical practice management system (accounting, scheduling, and billing) in a medical office setting. This course introduces the concepts and skills needed for a successful career as a medical administrative professional. The course includes hands-on experience with a medical administrative software program that encompasses all aspects of computerized patient scheduling and billing. The student will leave this course with a good understanding of how to operate administrative practice management software in any health care setting. Other topics such as understanding various claim forms, financial policies and collections, HIPPA, office professionalism and customer service skills will also be covered. (Prerequisites: HLTH 1040 Medical Terminology and ADSC1010 Keyboarding I or equivalent)
