Description: This MN Transfer course introduces students to American Sign Language, the visual/gestural language used by the Deaf community, and aspects of Deaf culture. The differences in communication preferences used by deaf individuals will be explored, as well as techniques to best communicate with people who are hard of hearing. The student will learn how to articulate all the letters and numbers; develop accuracy in regard to letter formation, palm orientation and hand position; fingerspell words clearly and accurately; recognize words and numbers.
