Description: This course will focus on current and emerging health information technologies which support data collection, maintenance, retrieval and security. Students will be provided with hands on exposure to technologies such as: master patient indexes; retrieval and tracking systems; automated chart deficiencies; voice recognition technologies; imaged based storage systems; manual and automated computation of various healthcare statistics and the compilation/interpretation of various descriptive reports such as: charts, graphs and tables. (Prerequisites: MATH0801 or MATH 0851 or assessment score of 71 or higher and COMP1000 and also ADSC1221)
